My name is Andres Salomon, and I am excited to announce my candidacy for Mayor of Seattle!
Seattle is an amazing place, and I love living here. As a long time advocate for safe streets, I’m running for office because I’m tired of seeing people killed and injured on our streets every day.
I’m convinced that with bold leadership, we can make progress in our goals to eliminate deaths on our roadways, build a city-wide connected network of safe bike lanes and sidewalks, eliminate fossil fuel carbon emissions, ensure everyone has access to nearby parks and green space, provide protection and shelter for our most vulnerable citizens, and build an affordable, family-friendly city. I will prioritize roadway safety, transportation choices, smart and sustainable urban growth, affordable housing, helping the homeless, municipal internet, open and transparent governance, and a more equitable justice system where minority voices are heard.
We now have the most progressive City Council in Seattle’s history, and we need a mayor to match. I would be Seattle’s first Hispanic mayor. A mayor with a car-free family. A mayor whose kids attend our public schools. A mayor who’s a former Free Software developer and committed to the power of openness, the sharing of ideas, and internet as a basic right. A mayor who understands the power of grassroots advocacy and Seattle’s neighborhood groups. A mayor who won’t back down in the face of challenges, because the cost of inaction is too great in one of America’s fastest-growing cities.
Here are some of the my priorities:
